Constance Bailey
Child and Youth Therapist

With over 10 years of experience supporting children and young people across schools, therapeutic services and court settings, Constance brings warmth, compassion and a strong commitment to child wellbeing.

As a Child and Youth Therapist in Toowoomba, Constance founded Nurtured Minds to provide a welcoming, supportive space where children and teenagers feel safe, heard and understood.

Her approach is child-centred, strengths-based and neuro-affirming, drawing on Play Therapy, trauma-informed CBT and other evidence-informed approaches. She supports young people navigating anxiety, emotional challenges, trauma, family changes and life's ups and downs, while working alongside parents and caregivers.

In 2026, Constance was named a finalist in the Queensland Heart of Women Awards (Children and Youth Category). As a mum of two, she also understands the joys and challenges of raising children firsthand.

Above all, Constance believes every child deserves to feel understood, supported and empowered to thrive.

Meet George

George is our three-year-old Ragdoll cat and a much-loved member of the Nurtured Minds Toowoomba team. He has been alongside Constance and the children she supports in therapy since he was a kitten, and has become a familiar, gentle presence around the therapy rooms.

Warm, affectionate and wonderfully relaxed, George is usually very happy to be patted, picked up or simply sit nearby while children settle into their session. His calm nature can bring a little extra comfort and connection to the therapy space — particularly for children who naturally feel at ease around animals.

When he’s not keeping children company, George takes his other responsibilities very seriously: sleeping in the flowers, sleeping in the sunshine and finding the best place for a nap. He is also particularly fond of scratches under his neck. 💛

George is never expected to be part of a child’s therapy experience, and we understand that not everyone feels comfortable around cats. His involvement is always guided by the individual child and family.

Our Philosophy & Values | Nurtured Minds Toowoomba child therapy

Nurtured Minds Toowoomba child therapy was founded from a deep commitment to child protection and a passion for ensuring children and young people have access to safe, specialised and developmentally appropriate therapeutic support. After working within the sector and identifying significant gaps in dedicated child-focused services and whole-family support within the Toowoomba community, the practice was created to provide a space where children are not only heard, but prioritised.

Our approach is grounded in a “child-first” philosophy — recognising that meaningful change occurs when we support the child within the context of their family and community.

We are guided by the values of integrity, empowerment, advocacy and being community-minded. These values underpin everything we do, ensuring every interaction reflects professionalism, ethical responsibility and a genuine commitment to strengthening the safety, resilience and wellbeing of children and families.

Health & Safety Commitment

At Nurtured Minds Toowoomba, the safety and wellbeing of children, families, and staff is our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment where children feel secure, respected, and supported.

Our practice operates in alignment with child protection legislation, ethical standards, and professional guidelines, with clear safeguarding procedures in place to prevent harm and respond appropriately to concerns. We promote a culture of safety, transparency, and shared responsibility in all aspects of our work.
